Mission and Vision

Planning Ipoh City development, taking into consideration the physical, economic and social factors to achieve a better quality of life for the city community.

Functions

Based on the requirements of this department in carrying out its duties and responsibilities in controlling and planning towards the development of Ipoh City, increasing the Council’s boundary from 387.63 sq. km to ... , broadening the application of Act 172, Act A 933 amended 1995, and Act A1129 amended 2001 as well as additional roles in the planning, enforcement, dialogues, publicity and education, research and information update towards strengthening the Town Planner Unit especially and Council generally, 5 divisions have been created:

* Development Control

* Development Plan

* Special Research and Project

* Planning Enforcement

* Administration Department

Building Control Division

Processing applications, coordinating and controlling all physical developments to ensure that suitable and systematic development within the Council’s area follows the appropriate development and planning.

Purpose of Development Control

This activity is important to ensure that the resulting development fulfils the following requirements:

  • Systematic and well laid-out according to the planning policies, Building Plan, Local Plan and the local authority development control requirement.
  • Ensuring the Government’s aspirations and policies are complied with.
  • Ensuring the requirements of the specific Acts, Laws and Enactments are compiled with.
  • Complying with the requirements of the procedures, regulations, methods and standards.

Development Plan Division

Ensuring that MBI has the Development Plans as required in the Town and Country Planner Act (Act 172).

Purpose

  • Submitting the guidelines relating to the approach, type and content that must be taken into consideration in the Local Plan.
  • Satisfying the requirements of Town and Country Planner Act 1976 (Act 172).
  • Satisfying the requirements of Town and Country Planner Act (amended) 1995 (Act A933).
  • Producing a better quality, easily implemented and easily understood standard Local Plan.
  • This manual replaces the earlier manual used since 1993.
